Chris Rock allegedly told an Arizona crowd that he was approached to host the Oscars but rejected.

According to a local newspaper, Chris Rock compared it to visiting the site of a crime.

It has been claimed that Chris Rock, who was memorably slapped by actor Will Smith during the 2022 Oscars event, informed an audience in Phoenix that he had been given the position of presenting the 2023 Academy Awards but declined it.

The statements were reportedly delivered by Rock during his sold-out Sunday night gig, as reported by The Arizona Republic.

The comedian was quoted as saying that hosting would be like going back to the crime scene in the newspaper. According to the Arizona Republic, Rock compared hosting the awards presentation to telling Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant” after she testified against O.J. Simpson in his murder trial.

For whatever reason, the night that Brown Simpson and restaurant waiter Ron Goldman, 25, were murdered outside her Los Angeles home, she forgot her glasses in the eatery.

We reached out to Rock’s representatives, but they didn’t get back to us TODAY right away. Academic officials said they couldn’t talk about it in the press.

At the ceremony on March 27, Smith smacked Rock. Rock made fun of Jada Pinkett Smith, Smith’s balding wife, in an interview. Alopecia is an autoimmune illness that causes hair loss, and that is what Pinkett Smith suffers from.

After the joke, Pinkett Smith rolled her eyes, and then Smith stepped onstage and smacked Rock. The man went back to his seat and shouted at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f——— lips!”

Later on, the board of governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences barred Smith from attending the Oscars ceremony, along with any other academy events or activities, for a full decade. Smith would issue a video apology for his behavior sometime later.

In the video posted on July 29, Smith stated, “I can tell all of you: there is no part of me that feels it was the proper way to act in that time.” “I don’t believe that’s the best method to deal with hurt pride or insults,” I said.
