After Bad Bunny’s performance, fans complained that the field at Minute Maid Park “looked dreadful.” (2022)

Bad Bunny: After the reggaetón sensation performed two nights at Minute Maid Park, Astros fans flocked to social media to express their displeasure with the outfield.

On September 1 and 2, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny performed to sold-out crowds in Houston’s Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros. Observant spectators at Monday night’s Astros game against the Texas Rangers may have noticed that the field wasn’t in its best condition after the “World’s Hottest Tour” concerts.

Shocking a Texas sports bar with his own music, Bad Bunny causes hysteria.

From the Crawford Boxes in left field, the typically lush grass seems uneven in certain parts, marked with indentations that looked to be left behind from the rectangular stage and seating area, as shown in a picture sent to Twitter by user @DRDREon290 and since extensively shared online. The venue’s usage for activities other than baseball games prompted complaints from fans on social media, who pointed out that this was happening during the season.

I was disheartened to see the condition of the field at Minute Maid Park today, but I remain optimistic that it may be restored to its former glory. Having it, as usual, is the best. You can’t top Minute Maid. The grass is very level and smooth. We must go back to that, user @MGSportsTalk tweeted, along with a new field perspective.

That’s on them for hosting an off-season performance, as one Twitter user put it. One Twitter user said, “I demand an apology from Bad Bunny for this.”

It’s shameful that the Astros’ stadium has to put up with this. H-Town has a great deal of pride for Minute Maid Park, and it deserves respect as such. That’s just plain vandalism Alternatively, someone else tweeted.

Yet others didn’t seem to mind the field’s condition at all, and several even voiced their delight at finally getting to watch their favorite band play there. One enthusiastic listener said on Facebook, “It was a heck of a show too.” Sorry the music was very loud,” said another audience member.

The Astros beat the Rangers, 1-0, on Monday despite the field being in poor condition. Even yet, Bad Bunny’s show is not the first and won’t be the last at the venue. On September 13th, Lady Gaga will bring the Chromatica Ball Tour to the baseball field. On September 23rd, Bill Joel will make his debut at the ballpark. On August 19, Mötley Crüe took the stage there.

There have been no public statements from Bad Bunny addressing the state of the playing field, and no apologies have been made. When reached for comment, Minute Maid Park did not immediately reply.
