Zac Efron Claims His ‘Baywatch’ Workout Routine Caused Him Depression and Sleep Loss

As rumors of cosmetic surgery continued to swirl around Zac Efron after he broke his jaw in April 2021, his mother even phoned him.

Zac Efron, who has spent almost 15 years in Hollywood, is now opening out about the toll that fame has on his personal life.

The former “High School Musical” star said in a Men’s Health cover article that he went into a profound melancholy while filming the 2017 adaptation of the “Baywatch” TV series.

I began experiencing sleeplessness and sank into a severe depression that lasted for a very long period. A part of me died within after going through that, Zac Efron said. There was a lot of struggle on my part to get my bearings again. They finally concluded that excessive use of diuretics over a prolonged period of time was to blame for the problem.

Efron said he was overtraining owing to his busy filming schedule, and he confessed to eating the same three meals every day and getting just four hours of sleep.

That “Baywatch” style, I don’t know if it’s actually feasible,” Efron pondered. “The skin has much too little water. It seems to be computer-generated and is, thus, false. And this could only be accomplished by taking the potent diuretic Lasix. I can avoid that step. Personally, I like having an additional 3% body fat.

Six months after production concluded, Efron finally started to feel like himself again, although he still tried to disconnect whenever he could.
