HBO and HBO Max the most Emmys for any one show in history, ‘White Lotus’ wins 10 Emmys

For the year 2022, HBO and its streaming version, HBO Max, won the most Emmys.

In the category for “limited series,” HBO won ten awards owing to “The White Lotus,” with Mike White taking home two statuettes for his work as a writer and director.

Additionally, Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett, stars of “The White Lotus,” won for best-supporting actress and actor in a limited series, respectively. As the evening came to a conclusion, “The White Lotus” was named the best-limited series, while “Succession” was named the best drama series.

Six awards were given to the second season of “Euphoria,” including the best actress in a drama series for Zendaya (her second win for the show in the category). In the second season of “Hacks” on HBO Max won three Emmys. For the second time, series star Jean Smart won the award for best actress in a comedy.

With programs including “The Crown” and “Queen’s Gambit,” Netflix came in second with 26 Emmys, down from 44 last year. The most successful Netflix originals of 2016 were “Squid Game,” which took home six awards (including best actor in a drama series for lead Lee Jung-Jae), “Stranger Things,” which garnered five, “Arcane” (with four), and “Love on the Spectrum” (with three). For her work on “Ozark,” Julia Garner won her third Emmy as the best-supporting actress in a drama series.

Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein both won acting awards, while the Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” took home the trophy for outstanding comedy series.

With 26 victories at the Creative Arts Emmys, HBO and HBO Max entered the Primetime Emmys as the frontrunner. After them in second place with 23 was Netflix. On the series side, Season 4 of “Stranger Things” on Netflix had five wins going into the night, as did HBO’s “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus.”
