Gill’s legendary career will be honoured in the special, which will highlight his 19 CMA Awards, 22 Grammy Awards, 30 million record sales, and entry into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

Emmylou Harris, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, and Rodney Crowell will be there to “share personal tales, reminisce on their time working with Gill, and speak about his lifelong effect on country music,” as stated in a press release. Brad Paisley and Maren Morris will also sing.

In addition, Gill will be interviewed in-depth about his life and music. Topics to be covered include his early years, songwriting, musical inspirations, and future ambitions.

Amy Grant, the musician’s singing wife, had to skip the tape so she could heal from a bike accident she suffered in July.

Gill told Entertainment Tonight, “She’s doing fantastic,” and that the actress is “very ripped up” over failing to make it. They decided that the best thing for her to do after her injury was to rest.

That’s challenging for her since she’s so active, he said. She is aware of how respected, loved, and represented she is tonight, therefore everything is well.

The CMT Giants series began in 2006 and has since celebrated artists such as McEntire, Hank Williams Jr., Alan Jackson, Kenny Rogers, and Charley Pride.

CMT Giants Vince Gill

Amy Grant missed her husband Vince Gill’s CMT Giants special, but he reports that she is “doing well” after an accident.

From his timeless song catalogue, numerous awards, and unmatched musicianship to the respect and camaraderie he has cultivated among his fellow musicians and of course, his signature sense of humour, we can all agree Vince is a true titan in country music, Margaret Comeaux, CMT’s Senior Vice President of Production, Music & Events, said in a statement. Because of the impact his music and lyrics have had on listeners all across the globe, CMT Giants is proud to honour him as one of our “CMT Giants.”

This will be the venue’s first-ever television performance, and CMT Giants will show the special on Friday night at 9 p.m. ET.
