Following in the footsteps of Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé, and Big Sean, Doja Cat has turned to electronic music for inspiration.
Doja Cat is digging deep within her early exposure to rave culture for fresh creative fuel.
Doja Cat Reveals Her Fourth Album
The “Say So” singer recently told CR Fashion Book that not only will her forthcoming fourth studio album include more of her rapping talent, but the album’s production approach would also be different from her past efforts.
Doja Cat is the latest famous hip-hop artist to find inspiration in dance music, joining the likes of Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé, and Big Sean. She has specifically said that ’90s German rave music has recently been more her pace.
Strange New Worlds Season 2: Who Will Return in Its Second Part?
Currently, “I’m quite into this ’90s German rave type of feeling, and it’s very fun,” Doja said. “I know it’s kind of the vogue right now, but I liked that thing as a child and now that I can express it (obviously, I couldn’t buzz my head, wear a furry bra, and get a belly button piercing back then), I’m kind of embracing that.”
She went on to explain that this was really a clue about the album. “Dancehall music, not house”
No release date has been set for Doja Cat’s next album, which will follow 2021’s Platinum-selling Planet Her.
