The next season of Dancing With the Stars promises to be the hunkiest one ever. On Dancing with the Stars Season 31, Jason Lewis is one of the celebrities competing for the mirrorball trophy. He’s certainly charming, but can he really dance?
Now, of all things, we have a former cast member of “Sex and the City” competing on “DWTS”! As season 31 begins, here’s a chance to brush up on your Jason Lewis knowledge.
Sex and the City viewers will recognize Jason immediately. So much has happened in his life over the almost twenty years that the program has been off the air. Here are five salient facts about the 51-year-old that you should know.
1. Jason is known for his role as Smith in Sex and the City.
In season 6 of Sex and the City, Jason began playing Jerry “Smith” Jerrod, an aspiring actor who eventually wins the heart of Samantha Jones. His performance was so well received that it was revived for the film’s sequel, Sex, and the City II. There will be no more appearances by Jason Lewis as Smith in the And Just Like That offshoot of Friends From College.
I haven’t [been asked], but then again, I’d be the last one to know! I do appreciate the compliments, but the topic of discussion is always the females,” he told the Daily Front Row in 2021. Jason’s acting career has flourished since Sex and the City, with appearances in Midnight, Texas, and both Flowers in the Attic films.
2. Jason Lewis is engaged.
In 2020 February, Jason Lewis announced his engagement to film producer Liz Godwin. Those two had known each other for four years now, since when they first crossed paths at a Miami party. According to the actor’s PEOPLE interview, “she loves me when I am wonderful, and when I am not.” She has been there for me every step of the way. The modest request to take her as my wife, and of course her “yes,” are tremendous gifts to my life since they provide room for me to develop and make me a better man.

3. Jason is involved in many charities.
Jason Lewis is dedicated to his volunteer work with organizations such as Best Buddies, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and many more. When Jason first discussed his involvement with Best Buddies, it was in 2021.
In Hyannis Port, at a charity event promoting inclusion for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), I am very thankful to have been invited to participate. Getting to know everyone in the group, especially these fantastic advocates for the cause, was a real treat. Giving and affection were abundant. A wonderful group that performs incredible work to enhance and facilitate the lives of others,” he praised in his letter.
4. Jason supports the LGBTQ community.
In the year 2020, Jason Lewis shared a selfie of himself on social media while wearing an “I support LGBTQ youngsters” shirt. Statistically, #LGBTQ adolescents are more likely to be the target of bullying and harassment. To show that I won’t stand for bullying on this year’s #spiritday, I’m wearing purple. I’m glad to be able to help out with this goal. He wrote this on minimizing others: “When we belittle others, we decrease ourselves.”
5. Jason Lewis was a model before getting into acting.
After graduating from San Diego State University, he began a career in modeling. In the 1990s, he became well-known as a model for major fashion houses including Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, and Guess. The bartender who drove Jason to his first audition was astonished to hear the news.
That’s what started everything, he said to Fashion Week Daily. “I had a meeting with several brokers a little while afterward. My grandparents are avid travelers, so the concept of seeing the world has always captivated me, even if I had no plans to follow through on it. After finally making it to Paris, I expected to go back to my regular life, but I found that I didn’t want to. All this new information fascinated me. I was so inspired by the artistic atmosphere and by my time in Europe that I tore up my return ticket.
