During Wednesday night’s presentation of the Pioneers Award 2022 by the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation to producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, there was plenty of time for mingling. This is the first time the grand celebration has continued since the epidemic started.
Pioneers Award 2022: Broccoli and her half-brother Wilson have dominated the James Bond film series for over three decades. No Time to Die, the most current movie, broke box office records by making over $774 million worldwide. This film was Craig’s sixth and last time playing the renowned British spy. United Artists Releasing president Erik Lomis and former MGM executive Jonathan Glickman (UAR distributes pictures from MGM, home of the Bond series) kept the gathering laughing throughout the course of dinner. No Time to Die was an international production for Universal.
Pioneers Award 2022 has been presented annually to those who have made significant contributions to the film business and to charitable causes for more than seven decades. It is widely recognized as one of the highest honors that can be bestowed in the field of entertainment and the world of charity.

Since taking over the helm of the London-based Eon Productions from their father, Albert R. Broccoli, and Harry Saltzman, brothers Wilson and Broccoli have produced nine of the 25 Bond films.
Sam Smith, who won the 2016 Academy Award for Best Original Song for his rendition of “Writing’s on the Wall” from the Spectre theme song, was also scheduled to perform that evening. (After Adele’s “Skyfall” theme, this was the second Bond theme song to win an Oscar.)
Because Broccoli and Wilson are staunch advocates of seeing movies in theatres, they rebuffed efforts to have No Time to Die released only through streaming due to concerns about the spread of the virus COVID-19. When Amazon paid $8.5 billion to acquire MGM, the Bond film brand, which MGM is the home, was likely among the major factors in their decision (the deal closed earlier this year).
