Chris Martin of Coldplay has a “serious lung illness,” causing the band to cancel shows in Brazil.

Chris Martin, the lead vocalist for Coldplay, has been diagnosed with a “severe lung illness,” resulting in the cancellation of eight gigs in Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo, Brazil.

The band announced the postponement of its Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo gigs until early next year, writing that they are “optimistic” that Martin will recuperate during the vacation.

For their Music of the Spheres world tour, they were scheduled to make eight stops in Brazil between October 11 and October 22.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the band has decided to push back their forthcoming performances in Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo until early 2023.
