Mattel’s Tina Turner Barbie is a tribute to the singer.

Tina Turner, who is 82 years old, made a statement saying, “I am thrilled to welcome my Barbie into the community of groundbreaking women currently represented and expose more youngsters to my journey.”

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of her smash single “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” toymaker Mattel has released a Barbie doll modeled like Tina Turner.

Their Barbie doll, part of their Barbie Characteristic Music Series, is decked out in a look straight out of the video for the song: a black minidress, a denim jacket, and Barbie’s signature haircut.

Tina Turner, who is 82 years old, said in a statement that she was “proud” to have her Barbie join the ranks of other pioneering women previously portrayed.

The eight-time Grammy winner and her then-husband Ike Turner had tremendous success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but their turbulent marriage led to a divorce in 1978.

The native Tennessean Turner relocated to Switzerland in 1995 to live with her German-born record producer boyfriend Erwin Bach, whom she married in 2013.
