Britney Spears News: At long last, Spears is free! After the release of her new track featuring Elton John, Britney Spears’s global fan base has been nothing but effusive in its praise of the pop star’s musical comeback.
A cover of John’s smash hit “Tiny Dancer,” “Hold Me Closer” features vocals from both artists. After her conservatorship ended in November 2021, this record is Spears’ first new music in almost three years. Just a few hours after its online debut, the song has topped iTunes sales in 30 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Israel, and Sweden, as reported by Kworb.
Spears testified last summer that she felt she was coerced into working as part of her conservatorship, which lasted for 13 years and included her making songs, touring, and even having a residency in Las Vegas.

The singer is still in court, suing her conservatorship overseer, her father Jamie Spears, and her former business manager, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group. Spears has made serious charges against her father and Tri-Star, labelling their alleged treatment of her as “conservatorship abuse,” including that they exploited her financially throughout the conservatorship. The court recently ruled in favour of the singer, saying that her father must give a deposition this month but that she herself would not be deposed.
While Spears’ lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, continues to battle in court, the singer is enjoying her newfound independence and marriage to Sam Asghari while remaining busy with initiatives of her choice, such as a large book contract and singing in the studio with John.
A press release was sent by Rosengart to Variety shortly after the release of “Hold Me Closer,” in which he congratulated his client and described her as a “great artist” and “iconic person” who has “gone through a lot.”

Being able to collaborate with her has been a real honour. So much has happened to her. I will always be proud of her no matter what she decides to do next.
The hashtag #FreeBritney, which has been used to show support for the singer during her conservatorship struggle, has been replaced with #JusticeForBritney as the single’s release approaches.
