There’s going to be another Grinch movie, but this time around, the green guy probably won’t have a change of heart. A horror film adaptation of the iconic Dr. Seuss character The Mean One is in the works at XYZ Films, with David Howard Thornton (Terrifier 2) cast in the lead role.

Grinch Horror Movie, The Mean One, Coming This Christmas

The Grinch

The Mean One is a parody of The Grinch, directed by Steven LaMorte and written by Flip and Finn Kobler. Instead of residing in Whoville, the monster has made its home on a mountain with a view of Frazier Park. After the Grinch murders Cindy’s (Krystle Martin) parents when she is a child, Cindy goes to Frazier Park 20 years later in quest of closure, only to discover that the monster’s bloodlust hasn’t dimmed.

On December 15th, The Mean One will be made accessible for free streaming in the United States, however, the studio hasn’t said on what platform this would be. The show is executive produced by Jordan Rosner, Gato Scatena, and Zach Stampone, and has an ensemble cast that also includes Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher.

The Mean One

Famously starring Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen in How the Grinch Stole Christmas in 2000, the Dr. Seuss tale was animated in 2018 with The Grinch. Winnie the Pooh will soon be adapted into another slasher film called Blood and Honey, so the Christmas-hating monster isn’t the first kid’s fable to receive a horror adaption in recent years.
